"No barking from the dog, no smog,
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog"

Shit...

You're boy got gout again... And this time it's going for my left knee. It's not as bad as when I had it on my ankle, but it still hurts and it's still a struggle to stand up and get around.

Hopefully it won't be a bitch trying to mix this weekend.

(Sigh)

Thank you, come again...

"Hardcore, Based on elements at the earth's core;
Fuck it, I'm gonna keep speaking until my throat soars!"

Damn, I can't sleep...

I’m not really the type to do some major and serious stressing. Sometimes I think I’m too laid back sometimes and I like to think of myself as someone who has always faced problems with ease and never really sweated a lot of the small stuff. But this time around, things might be different. People are probably reading this and saying to themselves, “What the fuck are you talking about?” But I guess there’s been a lot of things on my mind as of recently and this time around, I may have to really step up and face some of these new challenges that come my way more seriously, cause the decisions I make now can effect the future.

OK, enough of this shit. Haha… it sounds like PASA’s PCN. By the way, big ups to PASA on their PCN this past weekend. Putting something like on takes some serious work.

Anyways… so what else has been going on since we’ve last spoke? Hmmm…

Some of us checked out Da Joint after PCN. This was the first time I’ve been to one of their parties where the crowd was pretty sparse. Regardless, I still had fun and managed to get a good buzz going that night, and free food from Papalote's is always good too. Nook didn’t come cause she went camping for the weekend with fam, but it was still fun dancing with the other folks. It reminded me of when we were all single, we would hit up Platinum every Wednesday, and just dance in a big ass group. Ahhhh, the good old days of partying in the middle of the week and not giving a shit about class the next day. Lan even made a surprise appearance (you’re not old girl!) and Christine came thru with Mike. Oh yeah, big ups to Jae who turned 24 that night. Holler at me dude, we haven’t chatted in a minute.

It was such a nice day today that me and Nook went to the beach and ate some Roxie’s sandwiches (dutch crunch baby!). Damn, there were hella people out there today too. All kinda of people: fat peoples, skinny peoples, thug peoples, and even a midget (no joke).

Afterwards, I hooked up with this dude I met off eBay and bout a pair of unForbes for dirt cheap. Small world too: the other guy he came with recognized me and was like, “Yo, you’re the guy that taught at Riordan right?” I knew I’d seen his face around everywhere before and I couldn’t put my finger on it til I got back to my car. The other guy he was with was one of the actors in Pat’s film, “Lumpia”. The little, chubby kid (well, not so little anymore... but still chubby) who kept rhyming when he talked.

Anyways, we chatted for a while about kicks and about mutual friends we had. It looks like I finally found a Euro hook up on shoes. Now I’ve got to meet some folks from Japan and Canada who can hook a brother up, instead of trying to figure out how to read Japanese.

Speaking of Japan, this wrestler turned politician craze (Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura) is really making a hit worldwide.

In other random news:

Ooooh… I finally came up with a dope closing for now (Big ups to Jes!):

Drum roll please…

"Thank you, come again…"

"I got a mirror in my pocket and I practice looking hard"

So I just got back from the club and I got another ticket tonight. Damn, I just paid off a $50 ticket like two days ago, and now I gotta worry about this one too. Oh well, I get paid next week so it won’t be that bad. I even saw a friend I went to high school with tonight that I haven't seen in like 5 years, and we spent a while just catching up and stuff.

Speaking of old friends, Wendy IM’s me out of the blue the other night. She just moved out to a new spot next to Pac Bell Park (Damn, boss ballin’). Anyways, we gotta kick it soon and catch up. It’s funny, we met back in high school: she was going out with my best friend Ryan, and I was going out with her best friend Dorothy. Even though none of us are together now, we’re all still folks and still keep in touch. She’s probably one of the coolest persons I’ve ever met too. I mean, when me and Dorothy had our arguments and problems, she never chose sides and was always fair about things: even when I didn’t take Dorothy to prom, she was hella cool with Monica, the girl I winded up taking.

Oh yeah, and I can’t forget kicking it with my godbaby mama while Nook was out getting sun burnt at Santa Cruz yesterday afternoon. It’s cool talking to her cause I feel like I don’t ever have to hold back the slightest bit with her in terms of my opinions on things, especially to her. We chilled at Hawaiian Drive In and caught up on what’s been going on with her, her baby daddy drama, and about old school folks we see around.

Anyways, it’s been a while… So what’s been going on? Hmmm… where do I start…

Today we went to go watch my little cousin perform in their school play, Romeo and Juliet. And, she even played the lead role, Juliet. Unfortunately, she shared the role of Juliet: she played her part during the first half, while another girl played Juliet the second. And, being the lagger I am (that and I had to take and shit), we came late and totally missed her (Damn Filipino time!). Funniest thing for me was seeing the kid that played Juliet’s dad: it was some chubby kid who had this dope Super Fly type swagger. Like, you can almost imagine some sort of theme music that accompanied that walk. That shit had the crowd laughing… Damn that’s smooth.

In other random news:

Anyways, it's late and I still have work tomorrow...

Peace

“I’m off the meat hook from New York City to Nor Cal,
Bad enough to drink toxin and piss Cristal”

ranson***: how's you and your girl?
BoogiBrwn1: good
BoogiBrwn1: sometimes at night
BoogiBrwn1: while she's sleeping
BoogiBrwn1: i like to punch at her face hella fast
BoogiBrwn1: just to see how close i can get without hitting her
ranson***: hahaha

Shit… Mishi calls and says Kweli isn’t showing up and instead, Fabolous is performing tomorrow (D-d-d-d-d-d-damn!). I was kinda looking forward to that shit too, like taking a picture with dude and having sign my vinyl too. I was even thinking about bringing a video camera and asking him to say some shit on camera about how we’re hella cool with each other from like back in the days and how he looks up to me and shit, so I can go home, edit it, and post if up on the net to show people how cool I am that me and Kweli are (fake) friends… Oh well, maybe I’ll catch him the next time he rolls through town…

Or maybe I can still bring the camera to interview Fab, but hold it down like the little homie Andy. Check out some of his videos, this kid is hilarious. He’s destined to be the next Tom Green or Conan O Brien or something… except fatter (literally)… This guy’s already been on TV, been written about on sites and magazines for all the shit he does, and he even has hella fans that love his stuff.

Damn, I need some fans. Shit... Randy got fans. Why can’t a brother have fans too?

ranson***: I'm gonna have this movie floating around to all my followers
BoogiBrwn1: Yo, you got followers?
ranson***: Yeah dog i got a few in LA
ranson***: I even got one in Ontario, Canada... and Tampa, FL i think?
BoogiBrwn1: Oh shit, dope.
ranson***: I'd say i got like, maybe a good 20?
ranson***: some kid emailed me last night and asked if i was the son of ran... then in his email, he quoted some of my lines and asked me to finish those lines to prove that i was the son of ran
ranson***: so now i chat with him online... his name is M***l Ol***er from Gardena, CA... fuckin 18 year old cat. I think he's hella fobulous
BoogiBrwn1: LOL! Forreals?
ranson***: Yeah cause he's always callin me "mang”

On a sidenote, while we’re on the subject of the word “mang”, is it me, or is some of this AOL slanguage hella stupid?

Like, what the fuck is “mang”? Or what the fuck is “welps” or "ish"? Next dude that IM's me with that bopper talk is getting shock and awed.

Anyways, back to having fans:

Join my fanclub (kinda, but not really):

If you like my shiznit, email me a picture of yourself holding a personal message up. Something like this (1, 2, 3).

I’ll throw you up on the site. Shit, you’ll be famous. All 15 people who read this site will know who you are!

But anyways… So what else has been going on in my world…

I gave an old friend a call this afternoon to wish her a happy, belated mother’s day:

Ring, ring

M***: Hello?
Me: Happy mother’s day you slut.
M***: Shut up ni**a

Aaah… the life and times of single, teen moms…

Checked out Tongue and Groove again for their weekly open tables. Despite a little bit of needle problems, I managed to throw down an ok set (Of course, we can't all be as dope as Neogeo, but I tried). But it really boosted my confidence when folks were giving me props. One dude even told me to bring a cd for him to buy next week… Sorry homie, I couldn’t even bring you a tape, I don’t ever really record myself.

But it’s a nice little spot where I feel free to play anything other than any jiggy type stuff. Oh yeah, and big ups to Jae who came thru to hang out for a little bit. If you don’t have anything to do, come out and have a drink or two… And besides, it’s free…

The homie D says I need to come up with a saying for everytime time I end off each blog. We narrowed it down to “It aint safe no more” and ”Hide your daughters”. I suggested that we combine the two: “Hide your daughters, it ain’t safe no more”, but he thinks it’s too long and not catchy enough.
What do you think? Email me if you have your own suggestions or wanna vote for either one!

Anyways, no random news for today… I’ve rambled long enough, plus it’s late and I still have work tomorrow…

Peace

“Just grab em in the biscuit”

Man, I should be working on Nook’s portfolio, but I’m procrastinating as usual (what else is new). I just got back from Sno Drift for some industry night with some rapper from Mississippi, David Banner (who?). I guess the point is to mingle and network with some industry folks, but shit, all I wanted were my free records. But I guess you have to kiss a little ass here and there to get ahead.

Hmmm… it’s been a while since I updated this thing (I’m a lazy ass bastard, so I was bound to fall off when it came to updating this thing… but whatever). So what’s been going on in my corner of the universe…

I spent all last week videotaping outside for Hayward’s multicultural week. The weather has been pretty nice too, so I winded up getting a little darker and a pretty bad sunburn on my head. I was even eating lunch before heading back inside to the office and Jenn comes up to me and says, “Hey, you got hella lint on you head. (After closer inspection) Oh wait, it’s just dry skin”. Damn…

Highlights from Multicultural Week:

The weekend turned out pretty cool too. We hit up Friday’s at like 12:30 at night, on some spur of the moment shit. Then on Saturday, we went to the Distortion2Static / 3 the Hard Way party over at the Rawhide.

It felt pretty good being there and seeing a lot of folks from the City that I haven’t seen in a while. I even saw Monica (my old prom date) and Stephanie (old high school boat dance date turned disaster) that night. And it was good catching up with other people like Rey, Ken and Anna. I feel like I’ve been so out of the loop here, so it was good to see all these people. We were all pretty faded, so we headed to Video Café to sober up and get something to eat. Good times…

In other random news:

Ah, I should be getting back to working on Nook's project. Sorry for the boring entry. Paul emailed me and said he liked my shit and that I should be a writer, but after this entry, don't get your hopes up.

Anyways, if you're not doing anything Wednesday night, come by Tongue and Groove in the city. Free admission and Neil, Travis and I will be there for the open tables...

Peace

“Motherfucker I’m cool, With attitude and ego to spare”

Well, I haven’t written in this thing in hella days. I’m kinda tired right now, so I don’t think I’m going to be rambling tonight, only the condensed version of things.

Quick rundown for the last few days:

Friday
  • PASA’s film festival with the homie Patricio’s "Lumpia" headlining the show
  • Dinner @ Friday’s for Riz’s birthday

    Saturday
  • Hung out with Jae for a little bit and got something to eat
  • DJed a hippie function with Ai (kinda… but not really)

    Saunday
  • Trekked to Merced to visit Nook’s family

    Monday
  • Went to work
  • Went to HYPE!
  • Helped Short move from Oakland to SF til like 2 in the morning

    Tuesday
  • Worked again
  • Picked up some free vinyl at Ill Trends... awww yeah
  • Went to Amoeba’s
  • Now i'm here typing this piece of shit entry.

Actually, this is the probably the last thing I wanted to turn this thing into: a rundown of what I did everyday (cause honestly, who really gives a shit?)

Ok, lemme just put in the extra 10 minutes to at least make this half interesting. Let's take this weekend and break it down into highlights:

Biggest Asshole: Our server at Friday’s who snitched on Kham for hooking us up with drinks cause he wanted us to order thru him so that his gratuity would be more... hater

Best “What the fuck?” Moment: You know how you’re at a function and there’s always someone passing out flyers for the next party? I was at a art/hippie function and they were handing out flyers to the next protest…. Fucking hippies

Biggest Surprise: Bringing a box full of crap records to sell to Amoeba’s and actually getting $22 credit for it.

Best Free Shit: Free vinyl from Ill Trends… Actually, this should be listed as best free shit every week.

Funniest TV Moment: Native Americans trying to spread SARS to the people of South Park by wiping naked Chinese people on blankets that were to be given to South Park’s citizens.

Most Gangsta TV Moment: Dude pulling out a gun on the cast of “Cheaters” when the camera crew followed him to the next parking lot

    Dopest Movie: X2 is dope.

  • But Kelly Hu is doper... I wouldn't mind getting my ass kicked by her.

Most Complex Thought While Watching X Men: Thinking of ways Ice Man and Rogue can finally do it without Ice Man gettin the jones put on him...

Best Quote: "A job ain't nothing but work" (amen to that)

  • Got money to burn? Bid on this (High fives to D for the link)

Or learn more about it here.

Ok, I'm tired now... Sorry for being so boring tonight... Maybe I'll be more interesting tommorrow.

”Believe me sweeite, I got enough to feed the needy”

Damn, insomnia kinda sucks. I fell asleep for a couple hours earlier tonight cause I was hella tired from the show last night, and now I can’t sleep…

The Triple Threat show was pretty cool. They really brought it back to the old school last night with the mobile sound and lighting setup. They even opened up with an electro / freestyle set which had me reminiscing of parties at St Andrew’s, the Westlake Gym, Lyon’s Hall, etc (real heads who've been around know what I’m talking about).

It kinda sucked though cause I had to work the ticket booth when they opened, but I managed to close the box office in time to catch the last half of the performance. Not a bad crowd for a Wednesday night. Neil and Travis made it out (my bad for having you guys wait), saw a lot of other heads from around the way, bumped into my cousin Des whom I haven’t seen in HELLA years, and Ai and Tara even made it out (I think it was Ai’s first hip hop type function, woohoo!) The whole night was pretty cool, but I just wish there was more party rocking as opposed to just showcase type stuff. But regardless, good stuff…

Apollo called me today while I was at work. He was playing with the thought of bringing it back to that DJ mobile party type vibe start throwing hall parties with big ass sound systems like they used to do back in the days. He even asked if I wanted to open up for them at upcoming parties.

I was fuckin juiced when he asked me. I’ve always looked up to these guys, and opening up for them or just being billed for the same party would be like a dream come true. That shit just made my day…

But I don’t wanna get myself excited too early, I’m just gonna wait and see what happens. I’m just glad he put the invitation out there (and thanks to Neil for encouraging me to approach them about it and to the homie Jae for suggesting the idea).

I guess it’s funny how things can work out in a few days. I was just writing about reconnecting with folks the other day, and the homie Derrick IM’s me tonight (I guess he has insomnia too). Anyways, it was good to chat with him for a little bit. He even plugged me with Roland’s number. I’m gonna have to call that fool cause I’ve been trying to get a hold of his ass for a minute… Good times…

The art folks are having dinner tomorrow night at Chevy’s. Unfortunately I’ll be at PASA’s film festival (unfortunately meaning I wish I could go, but not mad about the festival). I haven’t kicked it with those guys in a while but, the homie Patricio’s showing his movie Lumpia tomorrow, so I wanna go support (Check his movie out, it’s dope how he worked with what he had). I didn’t get a chance to talk to him too much at the SFSU premiere cause he was being mobbed left and right, but hopefully we could catch up a bit more tomorrow night...

    In other random news:

But damn, it's late (or early)... Must try and sleep...
