“Neighborhoods are now hoods cause nobody's neighbors”

First off, happy birthday to my baby’s mama, Nook! And peace to everyone that came thru to Joe’s Crab Shack and Yancy’s to help celebrate (where were you Sissy???). I can’t wait to develop the pictures of Nook hoo-ridin thru Joe’s Crab Shack on the pony (at least I didn’t ask them to do the whip cream in the face like they did with the girl in the table behind us). That picture’s going up on the site for sure.

Yancy’s was pretty cool afterward, too. The Hennessey shots had me feeling real good by the end of the night. Plus, I haven’t really gotten drunk in a minute. And don’t trip Morgan and Leslie, I’ll find you some mens another night. I promise!

Whew! After two weeks of cleaning, painting, going through years of junk (I’m a packrat), recarpeting, and getting all the junk and furniture from the garage, back into the new rooms, I’m just about finally done. Daps to everyone that came thru to help out (Eric, Lor, Joel, Nook, Christine and my dad).

I swear, cleaning and going through everything can take forever! You’ll find old pictures, brochures, books and stuff and just start reminiscing about the old days.

Like I found a bag of Cadillac and Mercedes hood ornaments that I stole back in middle school. And I remember my mom finding that bag and yelling at me, and me trying to convince her that they weren’t stolen from cars, but were just key chains I bought at the store.

Or how some old pictures reminded of the time after the Rodney King incident, where we would play this game we called “LAPD”. That’s where we would choose someone, chase them around the schoolyard, and beat them up with wiffle ball bats like they did Rodney King.

And I finished just in time before I start my job tommorrow.

Man, getting that new hire packet in the mail is intimidating as hell. Hella forms that I have to sign, privacy forms, tax forms, direct deposit forms, salary agreement forms, drug test/policy forms. Damn, I guess this is how they do it at real jobs. Forms and paperwork up the wazoo.

Now I’ve got to work on this damn vampire sleeping schedule. I fell asleep in bed without showering at like almost 4 in the morning last night. Then, I woke up after 6am to finally shower (cause I have OCD and I cannot truly sleep without showering). And last weekend definitely didn’t help much either.

I had a gig at City Beach in Fremont, cutting for the homie Eric who opened up and did intermission for the Dynamic show (Big ups to Eric and Lor for coming thru and supporting!). Things went pretty well I guess, considering we only practiced thru the lineup for only like 45 minutes a couple days before the show and the crowd was a little different from your average hip hop crowd. But it was still fun.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see Orven, who’s in charge of doing sound for the band now. He even let a brother throw down some instrumentals for a scratch set and let me mix at the end. High fives dude. Holler at me about your next show!

Afterwards, me and Eric (who was pissy drunk) drove up to IHOP and met up with Jonas, BJ and Sophia for something to eat. I didn’t get home that night til after 4am.

The next night was our Flavor of the Month party over at Milk. Great turnout and crowd as usual, but man, after a while, it just gets way too hot for comfort in there. The spot isn't very big, so it already getspacked by 11. But the place has a great atmosphere and vibe, and attracts a really diverse crowd, so I guess there’s always a trade off. But time went by a lot faster than usual that night. Gabe and Albert (who was big pimpin’ that night like Dolomite… now you’ve got to learn to capitalize my son) came thru to party for a bit.

Then we left before 1am to Red Eye for a minute cause Angie was having a birthday party there. But, we winded up not getting into cause it was packed as hell and they weren't letting anymore people in (Hey, it was a free party. So what do you expect?). So, after chatting with some friends for a while in front of the club, we headed back to Milk so that I could pick up my records.

After breaking down with Jae and Apollo at the club, me and Jae rolled to the Jack in the Box on Geary to grab some late night eats. I’ve always passed by this spot before, but never noticed that they didn’t have a drive thru, but a walk thru window. Like a drive thru window, but you have to walk up to it and order. There was a bunch of folks there chillin, along with some crazy bum who kept yelling and talking to himself, and spooked a lot of the people waiting for their food.

I didn’t get home that night til about 5 in the morning. But didn’t get to sleep til 7am cause I winded up watching Brown Sugar on DVD (So when was the first time YOU fell in love with hip hop?). Dope movie. The scene with Mos hollering at Latifah at the party is funny as shit…

In other random news…

Well, I’ve been pretty busy/lazy with updating this. So until next time…
